42, of High Ridge. St. Louis police say Farquar was a dump-truck driver
working in the 7500 block of MacKenszie Road in Affton about 11 a.m.
Friday. Wind toppled steel used to shore up trenches, pinning him in a trench.

St Louis, MO — A construction worker was killed Friday when high wind blew a load of steel onto him,
crushing him in a shallow trench, authorities said. His was the fourth
death attributed to a week of strong thunderstorms and withering heat.
St. Louis County police said the victim [Eric L. Farquar,
42, of High Ridge] was a dump-truck driver working in the 7500 block of
MacKenzie Road in Affton. The wind toppled steel used to shore up
trenches, pinning him in the 3-foot-deep trench about 11 a.m. He was
pronounced dead at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
